Earlier this year, we had a week away on holiday in Norfolk. Living in the north-west of England, Norfolk is around four hours drive away towards the east coast and is somewhere we've been going to for quite a few years now. We have friends who live in the area and it's a nice opportunity to catch up with them while having a week away from home ourselves.

While on a long walk with our dog along the coast, we came across the large grey seal colony at Horsey Gap. I didn't have my camera gear with me, so we spent a nice half hour or so just watching the many seals lounging around on the beach as well as those coming and going in the surf.

The following day, getting up early, I drove back to the car park just down from Horsey Gap to see what images I might be able to capture. On the way there I was lucky enough to spot a marsh harrier hanging around over the fields but with nowhere to pull in and park up, it had to remain as just a nice memory.

Heading back up to the beach, I spent a little while just watching and seeing what might make for nice images. I eventually settled on two main themes - capturing interactions between individuals and getting down to a low perspective in order to put the crashing waves in the background.

After about an hour or so, it was time to head home for breakfast!
